“A life, gilded” is a part of a limited series of watercolor paintings featuring gold leaf. “A life, gilded” symbolizes the beauty of the on going life cycle of a rose including the flaws or aging petals. Like the Japanese art of kintsugi, this series uses gold to glorify the history of an object; instead of hiding a flaw, a break or the evidence of age the gold calls attention to it making it beautiful. The history of an object, rose or woman…both the good and bad ….are the story of what they are today and that is to be celebrated.
